Doohan was without doubt one of the great motorcycling world champions, winning five 500cc titles in a row before a serious accident and resulting injury forced him to hang up his helmet. Who knows how many more titles he could have won without that. 1997 was his most dominant season, setting a record of race wins that even Rossi hasnt eclipsed. Minichamps have replicated his NSR 500 from that season.
